Job Summary: The CFO will work closely with the firm's COO and Managing Partner, and Management Committee to oversee and manage all financial activities and systems for the firm. The CFO must be well-versed in all aspects of financial management and accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic recommendations for financial, tax, and investment strategies
- Design, maintain, and manage finance and accounting policies, procedures, functions, vendor relationships, and systems, including internal controls
- Design and produce management reports and financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Monitor and communicate financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective action, and minimizing the impact of variances
- Prepare and timely file tax returns
- Prepare and manage the firm's overall budget, including monitoring and controlling expenditures
- Maintain corporate banking relations, including borrowing and treasury functions
- Serve on the firm's retirement plan investment advisory and administrative committees, and support the firm's management committee
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage and negotiate policies, including corporate and professional liability, property, and EPLI
- Manage and direct finance and accounting department staff, including establishing goals and evaluating performance
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA with 5+ years audit experience preferred and CFO experience preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible finance work experience and proven success, in the legal field or similar professional services organizations
- Strong experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and enterprise accounting and document management software
- Exemplary presentation, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
- Professional, tactful, honest, respectful, courteous, cooperative, and client-centric spirit that embraces diversity and inclusion
- Strong leadership, collaborative, and consensus-building skills to work closely and successfully with attorneys, managers, clients, and vendors
- Strong project management, including demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, analyze, organize, attend to detail, follow through, delegate, and negotiate
- Able to identify and analyze issues and problems, and recommend and implement solutions
- Able to work well in a dynamic environment, and to respond effectively with calm, resourcefulness, and flexibility in demanding situations.
